One of the best places in Asia to be trained
as a cave diver is Khao Sok National Park, 2-3 hrs north of Phuket, Thailand.
This area is covered with Limestone and gives the diver a perfect
opportunity to explore amazing freshwater cave systems in a very unique
environment. This extremely remote location is protected and has remained
untouched and unspoilt by tourism thus providing a real place to unwind
and explore virgin dive sites not visited by the masses.
Cave training is completed in many of the different caves in this area
with the most famous one being Pra Daeng. Huge stalagtites and formations,
good visibility and low flow are amongst the benefits of this fantastic
playground. Courses from Beginner to Cave CCR and Instructor Training
is conducted through Pro-Tech. We can also organize guided cave dives
for certified divers please email for the costs. Course prices can be
found on our website, full equipment hire is available through Pro-Tech.
Cave students can opt to combine certification levels to suit their time
frame. Combination courses can be run on request, schedules permitting.
Sra Keow Cave - Located 2 hrs away
from Phuket in the Krabi province, this unique system is surrounded by
absolutely breathtaking scenery. Amongst the limestone cliffs you will
find two pools used by elephants to cool off and drink from, they are
known locally as Sra Keow Caves. They are considered an extreme dive due
to their depth. The belief is that this cave system could be one of the
deepest cave dives in the world, therefore is only accessible by very
experienced cave divers.

On a recent trip to the Sra Keow cave Mathew
Partridge and Ben Reymenants also discovered a further cave in this area having
struggled our way for twenty minutes through a swamp to the entrance. We were
also informed of a further cave just across a pool five minutes from the newfound
entrance, we hope to explore these sites during next month’s expedition.
We are informed of three more caves in the Nakorn area of Thailand approximately
2 hours from Krabi. I plan to visit these caves in the coming months. Check back
for Updates soon. |
